Yearly Journaling for your kiddos- A “favorites” list…

Hello Hello! Yesterday, I was up at The Crafty Maven Getaway You Tube Channel with a fun Scraplift Saturday video!

In the video I described how I have a favorites list I use to create a page for each of my boys every year to show how their interests change from year to yer. It is a little hard to read the “Favorites List” in the photo of my layout…especially since I hand-wrote it. ūüôā And some expressed interest in seeing the list I use so I thought I would share the layout, video and the “Favorites List” here sor easy reference!

Here is the video-

And the layout-

I love this favorites list because it is easy…and I have boys that don’t want to answer mom’s silly questions for her scrapbook pages…but even at 16, I was able to ask my son what’s your favorite… and he answered them, without even really realizing what he was doing in less then 8 minutes!…Score one for Mom!

Favorites List-

  • favorite food
  • favorite drink
  • favorite color
  • favorite book
  • favorite animal
  • favorite TV show
  • favorite thing to do with mom
  • favorite thing to do with dad
  • favorite toy (and yes, even at 16, my son just answered me…lol! )

So, there is my list. I’ve been doig this list since my oldest was 5 for both of my boys and it is a really fun to look back on. I like doing it when my kids are halfway through thier year at that age (for example, 16 1/2) because they are firmly that age and you get a better idea of thier interest…in my opinion anyway!)

Have A Lovely Day!

Scrapbook Layout With Paper House Productions

Hello Hello! I hope youare all doing well and the Monday blues haven’t hit you too hard!

I have a layout and video to share with you today using the One Big Happy Family Papercrafting Kit from Paper House Productions along with some bits and pieces from thier line of 3D Stickers. You can find the full product list on their blog with links so you can grab this gorgeous paper pack for your very own.

I hand-stitched one of the cut apart cards and then added some tangle thread to give the layout a homey feel. Then I added some 3D stickers to provide some dimension and some non- paper shine to the page…..

I love all the little details on this layout and embellishments I created with this kit…

I can’t wait to create with this kit again!

Digital Stamp Fun With Jess Crafts Digitals

Hello Hello! I have another Digital stamp project to share with you today using these ADORABLE new Hippo images that are being released TODAY over at Jess Crafts Digital Stamp Shop and since today is release day, you can get this stamp for just $1.00.

I decided that I felt like water-coloring this time so I created two cards with water-colored backgrounds.

One of the hippos I colored with Distress Ink in Hickory Smoke and the second hippo I applied clear gesso  over the image and water-colored him too! I had fun just playing with paints and cute hippos to create these cards!

I think these will make a great pick me up to send to friends in the coming months!

And here is a process video with a few more details and showing how I created my cards…

January Blog Hop With Counterfeit Kits!

Hello Hello!Thank you so much for joining me today for the Counterfeit Kit Blog Hop! One of my very favorite challenge sites that I enjoy following is the¬†Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog! I was so inspired by this month’s kit I just had to play along! And while my original plan of completely killing my homemade kit was sidelined by some seriously rough sick days….I still plan on killing it…January is not over yet, right??

I was able to play along with the first challenge on the blog- which was to use a door on your layout..and I saved that layout to share with you today!

I used the prompt and some of the other “homey” elements in my kit to journal about how much of a “stay at home” type of person I am.

I really loved this kit I created! I put it all together on my scrap desk to use till it is gone…so I’m sure there will be more in the coming weeks!

If you came to visit me- be sure to check out this challenge site and the rest of the girls along the hop! And if you are coming through the hop- Thank you so very much for stopping by and I hope you will visit again soon!

The next stop on the hop is Julene and if you get lost or need the whole hop line-up here it is-

Fab Friday With Spiegelmom Scraps!

Hello Hello!

I have a bit of a different project for you today..a set of cards. This idea came to me because I had this cactus paper (so random!) that I didn’t want to go to waste and I wanted to play with the new Shimmerz Paste-eez in the SMS shop without experimenting on a large, though I…CARDS!

I went to my trusty friend, Pinterest, searched “cactus quotes” and found 3 I thought would make a couple cute cards….

I used Salt of The Earth Paste-eez to create 2 polka dot backgrounds for 2 of my cards..

This mixed media paste was very easy to spread through a stencil and use. It is more transluscent then I imagined it to be but I think that would make it perfect to color with a spray or ink…will definitely be playing with it more in the future.

A couple other new items from the Spiegelmom Scraps shop also make there debut on these cards.. The I Cork U cork heart set..which are large and fun and lovely and another of my new favorites Morning Dew Drop sequins.

I added just a little splatter of Night Moves and my cards are complete!

Here is my process video for your viewing pleasure-
