Counterfeit Kit Challenge Fun!

For a number of months now, I have been following, reading, and enjoying the Counterfeit Kit Challenge Blog. This month, I just had to play along! The kit this month was a Felicity Jane kit I actually had and I loved the idea of mixing it with some of my stash and playing with the old and new products together!

I played along with all  3 of the challenges on the blog this month and had so much fun! It has been a while since I was able to play along with some challenges and I have been having fun creating kits as part of the For The Love of Homemade Kit video series I contributed too as well so it was a perfect match for me!

The first challenge was to use a sketch created by the very talented Shimelle Laine. I chose Sketch #30 for my layout and here it is-

The next challenge was to choose a lesson from a recent class you had taken and use it to create a layout. I had just finished Shimelle Laine’s The 20 Project (which I absolutely LOVED and would highly recommend!) so I chose a prompt from that class- to use more ink- and created this layout, creating my own stenciled background using ink-challenge-2

The last challenge for the month as to be inspired by Kate Spade. I chose her soft colors, especially the mint and coral, and love of bows and created this layout…and because we seemed to have a little Shimelle in each of my layouts, we couldn’t leave this one out, so I used another of her sketches, Sketch #34, for this layout-

I had so much fun playing along with these challenges and I hope you will check out their great challenges and maybe create a counterfeit kit of thier own. I’m hoping to be able to play along next month , if not, definitely in November while on my 4 day retreat….I have been LOVING creating my own its from my stash recently!

Have A Lovely Day!

Fab Friday With Spiegelmom Scraps

Hello! And welcome to Fab Friday!

For my layout today I decided to add a little touch of purple to the Shimelle Starshine collection. I altered some Cloudy Days Felties b, y flinging some watercolors on them to get just a little touch of purple and I also went through my stash to find a scrap of just the right shade of purple paper…I may also have scattered and then glued, one by one A Mermaids Tale sequins onto my layout…but look at the gorgeous results!

Some Cork Stars and embellishments from the Shimelle line are the perfect finishing touches. I love how this layout turned out and I hope you do too!

Here is the process video showing how I altered the clouds and created my layout!

Have A Wonderful Fab Friday!

Welcome to Fab Friday With Spiegelmom Scraps! I hope you all have a lovely weekend planned!

My layout today is for all my moms out on the interweb! How time flies and how quickly you go from having a little cutie to having a teenager! (they are still cute too…sometimes….) I took on fellow Sparkler Felicia Young’s challenge on our Facebook Group to use one old and one new photo and to use both old and new supplies…

I used the gorgeous Alma Mater Sequin Mix and some Shimmerz Cororingz in No Yoking from the shop today!

Spiegelmom Scraps Triple Hop- Day 3!

Welcome to the last day of our Triple Hop! How fun has this hop been! So many beautiful layouts and projects! I hope we have inspired you to get out your supplies and scrap a little!

Be sure to tag us- we would all love to see the projects you create with the gorgeous products in the Spiegelmom Scraps shop.

Today our focus is Cork and Mixed Media- two of my favorites…but who am I kidding, they are all my favorites! You should have arrived here from Rachel’s blog…isn’t she sweet? And I’m sure you enjoyed her project tons!

I chose to do a layout for you today using lots of Shimmerz products, cork-fetti, and the brand- new Crate Paper line Cool Kid!

I started by creating a background using a stencil from Ranger, the Dylusions range, Shimmerz Texturz in The Tide That Binds and Lemon Drop Dazzlerz . Once that was completely dry, I used Heidi Swapp Color Shine in black, Dylusions spray ink in white, and Coloringz in Oh Say Can You Sea. I LOVE how the Dylusions white ink sat on top of the Shimmerz products. Instead of making splatters with it, I actually sprayed it on the page…that effect was so, so cool! I will definitely use this technique again!

After my background was dry, I just added a little paper and embellishments to help tell the story…a very simple story of what my son did his first day of summer vacation…played with Legos…of course!

Some star Cork Confetti and Believe In You sequins were the perfect finishing touches!

From here you are on your way to my girl, the dear Katty !

Be sure to leave a comment all along the hop for a chance to win a $10.00 store credit!

And here is the full line- up for today in case you get lost!

Spiegelmom Scraps Sparkler’s Hop

13627180_10210633311695607_2386111361166711106_n Hello! And welcome to our monthly Spiegelmom Scraps team hop!  Have you seen all the gorgeous new products in the shop?? If not, be sure to check them out! I was instantly in love with the navy heart felties AND the new cork AND the new fall sequin mixes…swoon! You should have arrived here from Crafty Meggy’s  blog, who is awesome!

You will see my use of the cork on Sunday during the Triple Hop but today I chose to use the Navy Blue Felt Hearts , 2 sequin mixes, and Khristina’s gorgeous free cut files which you can get on the Spiegelmom Scrap’s blog.

I used the Red Slipper and Autumn Joy sequins to alter one of Khristina’s cut files which I cut extra large!

I used Shimelle’s new line, Go Now Go!, which coordinates with these sequins and the felties perfectly. It was really hard to use this new line…I admit, I usually “collect” Shimelle’s collections for a bit longer but those sequins and felties matched just too perfectly not to use it! I backed some open places in the books with paper, adhered the paper to my page, and then “filled in ” the empty holes with rows of sequins. I thought the lovely travel theme of the collection worked perfectly with the idea of escaping into a good book. The book-themed wood veneer are from Elle’s Studio. Here are some close-ups…DSC_4105-001

Next up on our hop is the ever fabulous Katty Miranda, a good friend and such a sweetheart! I am sure you will enjoy her project as well! And if you get lost, you can always go to the Spiegelmom Scrap’s blog to find your way again!

See you tomorrow for Fab Friday and for the Triple Hop on Sunday! It is going to be a busy blogging weekend!

Have A Lovely Day!
